Intel, AMD, NVIDIA release May 2022 driver updates for Windows 11

Intel AMD NVIDIA

The three hardware giants — Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA — have published display drivers for two of the latest versions of Windows with a long list of improvements for the respective operating systems.

Fair few fixes are also part of the May 2022 driver packages.

Details below, but it merits a mention that the GeForce update is actually a minor release with a couple of fixes. Intel, on the other hand, fixes several issues in its display drivers, while AMD has added support for new cards.

Starting with the Intel release, we have graphics driver version 30.0.101.1960 that adds support for Alder Lake HX, which is a new chip for laptops. Intel is also promising better compatibility with two new game titles, namely Evil Dead: The Game and Dolmen on its 11th generation processors with Xe graphics.

Intel also fixed an issue where the DirectX 12 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War experienced crashes or popped up error messages.

Bugs in Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and Elden Ring have also been taken care of.

AMD driver version 22.5.1 adds support for new GPU cards, including the Radeon RX 6650 XT and RX 6750 XT and RX 6950 XT. The company says that it also patched an issue where transparency or aero effects did not work on Windows 10.

In terms of performance, we have promising improvements with Smart Access Memory optimizations for Death Stranding and Watch Dogs: Legion. The update also delivers up to a 10% increase when using the new SAM optimizations in the former title at 1440p.

There are a bunch of new things to try, as well.

Introduced in this release is a new effects slider that lets you fine tune the sharpness effect of RSR.

NVIDIA release is rather light this month, with GeForce driver version 512.77 adding support for games like Evil Dead: The Game, Dolmen, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong. It also fixes a bug that crashes Adobe Premier Pro.

You can download these new drivers from their respective websites.

All three companies are also planning to release a major driver update ahead of the upcoming anniversary update for Windows 11 that is set to launch in the fall.
