Windows 11 build 22000.282 makes Ryzen performance issue history

Microsoft released a new version of Windows 11 to Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview channels, and it takes flight as build 22000.282. Or KB5006746, for that matter.

This new release comes with a metric ton of bug fixes and improvements, headlined by the patch for AMD Ryzen processors that were exhibiting very high level L3 cache latencies. This made them lose performance in latency sensitive programs like games.

The issue has been terrorizing these CPU owners since the launch of the new OS. As a matter of fact, things were made even worse by the first Patch Tuesday update that went live a few days back. Not even the latest generation Zen 3 processors were spared by these problems.

But as Microsoft notes in the announcement post, this is the first bug that has been fixed in this newest release.

The L3 caching issue sits atop the long list of fixes that are part of Windows 11 build 22000.282. There is everything from a race condition that occurs during the early part of startup to interrupt handling that might cause devices to stop responding.

Edge and Internet Explorer also got a look, as a handful of problems are fixed for these web browsers.

Redmond also took care of a problem that might cause Xbox Game Bar recording feature to be unavailable for users running its newest operating system.

All in all, a lot of good stuff in this new build that is primarily compiled to fix many of the reported issues in Windows 11 right after launch. With this version now in testing in the Beta and Release Preview channels, it should not be long before these fixes make their way out for everyone.
